Introducing Bergamot Essential Oil

November 23, 2020

Bergamot has enchanted people for centuries.

It isn't just its complex, citrus scent that draws aromatherapy fans. Its wide range of healing properties is what makes it one of the most popular essential oils.

It is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, cosmetic industry and common in favourite perfumes as its scent balances other, less rounded notes.

It is referenced in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as being useful in treating digestive issues, while in Ayurveda it is prescribed to help reduce melancholy and to uplift the spirits. In cosmetic applications it is used to treat acne and problematic skin.

The aroma of deDANÚ Bergamot Essential Oil is reminiscent to that of orange, but it is wildly more complex. It seems to possess an underlying floral yet earthy characteristic to it. Drinkers of Early Grey tea are especially familiar with the flavor and aroma of bergamot as the oil is used to flavour the tea.

Why add Bergamot to your oil collection?

  1. Bergamot soothes nerves, reduces tension, relieves anxiety and can have a positive influence on the effects of depression. Add a little bergamot to our 'Calm' Essential Oil blend for extra benefits.

  2. Bergamot has an enlivening effect on the mood. Our 'Pick-Me-Up' Essential Oil Collection contains Bergamot and other oils that are perfect for those periods when your day needs a little boost.

  3. Bergamot belongs to a family of oils that can decrease the appearance of scars and other marks on the skin

  4. Studies show that when applied topically it can help to reduce pain from inflammation and nerve damage. The scent is said to stimulate hormones that reduce the nerve sensitivity to pain.

  5. Bergamot has disinfectant and antibacterial qualities. Used as a room spray or in a diffuser, it is effective as a room freshener, cleansing the air and giving feelings of clear airways.

Add bergamot in one of pre-made blends, or develop your own blend using our carefully curated sets!
